Elise is an artist, illustrator and an art educator in the Talawanda School District. She has a BFA in Painting and Jewelry/Metals from Miami University, and an MFA in Jewelry/Metals/Enameling from Kent State University. She exhibits her artwork in national and international shows, has received various artist-in-residencies, and grants for national and international travel, but lately she has been focusing more on her illustrations. She joined SCBWI in 2015, has attended 3 regional conferences, and has been taking classes online at SVS Learn, Motivarti and Make Art That Sells.
She creates mixed media illustrations, which have whimsical characters set in a detailed and natural background. Elise's work has always been figurative and whimsical, quirky and eclectic. A main theme in her artwork is creating a dialogue of the humorous side of relationships in families.
She lives in Ohio with her husband Jim who is also an artist and art educator, two sons, dogs Crash and Peanut Butter, and two cats Matilda and George.
